You’d do better to use a standard tungsten lamp. If you use an LED, the continuously variable range will be VERY small. That is,for most values of the master cell, it’ll be fully bright, then it’ll drop off sharply somewhere in the middle and be totally of for most of the lower values of the master cell. If you’re looking for boolean on/off, this would work fine, but then again, so would simple power transistors. A regular lamp will give you a much wider range of variation.
